Confidence Comes Last (LESSON 30)
As we’re in the home stretch of this Alcohol-Free Challenge, I’m sharing a few thoughts of what comes next and how to continue the journey. You can’t magically change your relationship with alcohol in a 30-day challenge; it takes ongoing work. Maybe you’ve been at this awhile and you’re not a novice, but to get to “expert” level, it takes commitment and consistency. It’s also important to not get complacent! (That pitcher plant is for REAL!)
This video shares the highlights of the “4C’s Formula” by Dan Sullivan, author and executive coach, for setting goals and reaching a higher levels of performance and results. He explains this simple and universal process for achieving bigger and better goals and always making your future bigger than your past:
COMMITMENT - You have to be committed to achieving a breakthrough in the future. It’s not about having a guarantee of success, but being committed to taking action.
COURAGE - The courage to take a risk. Courage is about being brave. “Bravery is not the lack of fear, it’s the ability to move forward in spite of it.” It takes courage to KEEP GOING! It may be uncomfortable and filled with uncertainty, but that’s how you learn and grow!
COMPETENCE (CAPABILITY) - You have to learn new skills and knowledge. Capability is created from the inside. It’s the willingness to move forward despite the discomfort.
CONFIDENCE comes last! It’s the reward for taking action, making a commitment, being courageous and building competencies.
“If you learn the 4 Cs, then you’ll be able to take on anything by imagining a bigger and better future. The four steps are what lead to the BREAKTHROUGH. Each of the four states serves a purpose and every one of them needs the other three. A life that’s extraordinarily well-led is where you’re always to moving to higher and higher levels of skills and capability. Once you’ve reached a certain level of confidence, then you can set a new commitment and start the process over again to get even higher. We can teach this model to anyone, at any stage of life.”
Dan Sullivan, author of “The 4 Cs Formula”
In this video lesson, I have added a 5th “C” to this approach, CONSISTENCY, and share a story about Jerry Seinfeld and his “Don’t Break the Chain” method to reach new heights.
Lastly, to quote Bill Gates, “People usually overestimate what they can do in one year but underestimate what they can do in 10 years.”
Where will you be on this journey, 10 YEARS from now?! By applying the 5 C’s model, you can “Reach New Heights” without alcohol in your life, and I can help you get there. Reach out for more information about my signature coaching program.
