The 2nd Element: Social Wellbeing(LESSON 24)

Today’s lesson is Element 2 from Gallup’s research on Wellbeing, based on the book, Wellbeing at Work: How to Build Resilient and Thriving Teams. The second element we’re covering is Social Wellbeing. To summarize, the 5 Elements of Wellbeing are as follows:

  1. Physical: You have energy to get things done

  2. Social: You have meaningful relationships in your life

  3. Community: You like where you live

  4. Financial: You manage your money well

  5. Career: You like what you do every day

Watch the video for a description and discussion of the second element: Social Wellbeing, in the context of our relationship with alcohol. Scroll down for the journal questions from the video.

JOURNAL PROMPTS:

SOCIAL WELLBEING:

  • Do I have meaningful relationships in my life that don’t revolve around drinking?

  • Is my own drinking impacting any of the meaningful relationships in my life?

  • What options are there to make social connections with other people on this alcohol freedom journey?

  • How can I spend more time with a friend or colleague today?

  • Who would enjoy hearing from me?

  • How can I provide friendship and support to someone?

  • What can I do to show others that I appreciate them today?

Grab your journal and a nice cup of tea to relax. Give some thought to the questions above. Feel free to reach out in the comments below or by email if you need some support on this exercise.
