Your “WHY” and Behavior Change (DAY 1)
The first lesson in the 31-Day Challenge is based on the organizational behavior change method called “ADKAR.” If you’ve tried quitting drinking (or making any habit change) in the past and it didn’t stick, this video helps explain why.
We’re using ADKAR as the behavior change model for this program, which involves the following 5 steps, which need to be performed sequentially and cumulatively to make the change stick. Each step builds upon the previous one, where:
A = AWARENESS of the need for change
D = DESIRE to change
K = KNOWLEDGE of how to change
A = ABILITY to demonstrate the skills and behaviors / the outcome of the change
R = REINFORCEMENT (positive emotion) to make the change stick
Watch the video and let me know if there are any questions! Your homework assignment is below the video.
JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT: Defining your “WHY.” Building on Step 2 of ADKAR: DESIRE - The Reason for Change.
What is your WHY? Why are you here?
Why are you doing this Alcohol-Free Challenge?
What outcome(s) do you hope to achieve?
