Week 2 Reflections! (DAY 14)
The video for today is a brief recap of the learnings from Week 2 of the Alcohol-Free Challenge with some highlights from each lesson and questions to reflect on. Watch the video to reinforce your learning!
Three Part Series called, “Why We Drink” in the first place!
Part 1: The Substance (it’s addictive!)
Part 2: Our Culture: Alcohol is embedded into our culture due to the effects of marketing, advertising and the strategies of “Big Alcohol”
Part 3: Our Habits. This lesson covered how we can change our habits through a process called “neuroplasticity,” which is the brain’s ability to change, learn and build new habits
We also covered “Gray Area Drinking” and Jolene Park’s NOURISH framework for feeding our neurotransmitters to naturally create GABA, serotonin and dopamine without alcohol
100+ ways to fill your “drinking” time. Reminder of the HW from this lesson, which was to come up with at least 10 ideas of things you will actually do from this list (or come up with your own!). This list will be a great resource for you in the weeks to come!

HW: QUESTIONS TO REFLECT ON. Grab your journal!
What are your celebrations?! In addition to making it through each day alcohol-free so far, are there any other more significant accomplishments (like making it through a Happy Hour or dinner out with a spouse?). Or if you've made it 11 out of 13 days (just as an example), that's great progress and should be celebrated too! Remember we shoot for Progress over Perfection here!
Is your sleep getting any better? It may take a couple weeks of alcohol out of your system for your sleep to be regulated, so continue to be patient if you’re still not sleeping great.
Any areas you’re feeling stuck on?
Any major cravings or triggers that have been a challenge?
Are you relying on willpower to get through each day without drinking? Using willpower is fine to get through a couple days or weeks but it’s not sustainable in the long-term.
Review your notes from the beginning of the challenge on your WHY you’re doing this in the first place. Your WHY will serve as ongoing motivation!
Any questions from any of the lessons?
