“Why We Drink It: Reason 3: Our Brains” (LESSON 10)
This lesson is Part 3 in the series, “Why We Drink It.” It describes how our neural pathways that form our habits are like hiking trails in our brains. Some people have well-worn “hiking trails,” if they’ve been drinking regularly for decades, and it will take some time for the new habits to form.
The exciting news is our brains can continue to learn, grow and develop new habits in a process known as neuroplasticity! Watch the video to learn how this works!
JOURNAL PROMPTS:
What positives are you starting to notice at this point in the program? (sleep, energy, mood, confidence, building trust in yourself?)
Be sure to jot down at least one positive observation about each day (Item #5 in your Daily Checklist) to help build new habits that will stick over time, beyond the 31-Day Course.
Remember, we go farther, faster when we’re focused on what we’re GAINING vs. what we think we’re “giving up”
And go easy on yourself this month! It’s not easy to change the structure of your brain!
Feel free to share some of your positive experiences and celebrations with the group in the Comment section below!
