Why We Drink It, Reason 2: Our Culture (LESSON 9)

This video helps explain Reason #2 of why we drink it in the first place — because it’s so embedded in our culture! The marketing by Big Alcohol, along with possibly our family or friend culture, results in drinking alcohol being not only “normalized,” but encouraged everywhere we turn.

Over time, it becomes ‘linked’ in our subconscious that a party means alcohol, and that equals fun! For many regular drinkers, this linkage has become embedded in our subconscious so it’s our “default” behavior and in our belief system.

We can learn to raise the awareness of these beliefs by examining where they came from and changing our beliefs about how these thoughts are linked.
